Can You Hear Me Now?

Posted by emily at 12:40 PM

We've had an ongoing issue with comments on our Editor Blog and thanks to one of our engineers, the era of errors is over. Try saying that five times fast. Better yet, try saying anything!

Let's have a sound-off from our Editor crew in the comments below.

I know you've been reading, so take a minute and say hello. While you're at it, feel free to tell everyone what page(s) you edit. :)

Excellent! As an editor, I find this blog to be a great resource for tips and information.

Oh, and I edit the Survivor page. :)

Awesome!

I love reading these well written posts. Now I won't have to have to silently grumble my opinions to myself, but I'll know that the mysterious writers of these blogs will hear me. At the very least I will look less crazy to anyone sitting near me when I'm on the computer.

For the record, I edit the poker and Mini Cooper page (but I have been a little lax on the job lately - sorry 'bout that).

I attempted once many months to become a volunteer editor for the Topix site for McKinney, Texas. After seeing the amount of work needed to do a good job I requested withdrawal from the responsibility. Over those months I was finally able to make a block of time available each week to do justice to such a volunteer opportunity. I am learning new things and upgrading the character of the site with as many pictures with each article that I can find and post. What is wonderful about this opportunity is being able from time to time render my own personal views of what our community can do to truly make McKinney, Texas a great world city in Texas. Thanks for this opportunity.

Respectfully,

Glad to hear that Belfast Beauty is also very new to this. I think I am learning as I go.
Is there a forum just for editors to exchange expertise?

I edit way too many pages to count, though some are more active than others because I edit more where I get comments and interaction from readers. All are science of one kind or another.

Hey! You're out there! I'm so thrilled to have this more direct avenue for your feedback. I've got some great stuff in the pipeline, so stay tuned.

Welcome again.

I co-edit the Lewisburg TN page with Belfast Beauty. For a town this small (about 10,000) we sure get alot of attention. The posters are pretty political and we have gotten attention from our city leaders. Topix comments have helped make positive change. They really are listening to us so it has become a great way for the residents to voice their opinions and be heard. It's pretty amazing what we have come together to do, all thanks to Topix. The designers, owners, and tech should pat themselves on the back right now. You may not know it, may never benefit from it but Topix has made this town a better place to live. On behalf of the residents of Lewisburg, TN I say thank you. Keep up the good work.

Great job Topix Engineers and Emily for working hard to make Topix a tour de force on the net!

I am a volunteer editor of the Matthew Macfadyen fan page and can attest to the timely and responsive manner from your team to help us out when and if there is a glitch...thanks for your prompt and courteous response, all!

As for the new feature of the polls, it is fun and adds a new dimension to the forums. Thanks for that!

Sincerely

Hello,

I enjoy editing the Arroyo Seco, New Mexico TOPIX news. I have website development experience and I am intrigued with all the capabilities at the hands of TOPIX editors.

Of course I wonder, could there be even more design, layout, font, or organizational options for editors?

This would be problematic, yet it would allow more unique attributes to each news page.

Also, why do the story images appear, and at times, not appear?

Best regards.
